Red Or Blue — New England Voters Are Glad Political Ads Are Over

METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Election Day is in the rearview mirror, and though votes are still being tallied in some races, residents in Massachusetts and New Hampshire are relieved.

Political ads take over the airwaves in the last few months of every election season, and the 2022 midterms were no exception.

"I'm sick of them, it's disgusting," said an irate resident named Harvey. "I'm glad they're all over," he said.

As late as election night in New Hampshire, Paul said his TV program was interrupted with "fifteen straight minutes of straight commercials of the exact same people I've been watching for the last six weeks." Other viewers said the commercials continued all the way up until the polls closed in Massachusetts at 8:00 PM on Tuesday.

"I think I've seen enough commercials to last a lifetime," he said.

"I wonder how much money they spent on advertising that could have gone to a good cause," said another resident in Methuen.

Political spending reached an all-time high in many states this election cycle, including Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
