Registration Opens For Virtual 125th Boston Marathon

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Registration is officially open for the Virtual 125th Boston Marathon.

The Boston Athletic Association reopened the application on Tuesday morning after a brief technical issue.

The virtual race will be held Oct. 8 through Oct. 10, 2021, prior to the in-person 125th Marathon on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. Entrants can sign up through the BAA's online platform called Athlete's Village.

It will be open to the first 70,000 entrants who are 18 years and older. Entrants in the online race may run the qualifying 26.2 miles remotely and at any time during the race window to earn their medal.

Registration for the in-person October race will open on Tuesday, April 20 at 10 a.m. until Friday, April 23 at 5 p.m. Athletes who have a valid qualifying time may submit their applications during that window.

Marathon officials said more information about entry fees, Covid-19 safety measures and participant requirements will be announced in the coming weeks.
