Rehoboth Senior Center Destroyed In Fire

REHOBOTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A heavy fire destroyed a senior center in Rehoboth early Saturday evening.

Rehoboth Fire Department responded to Rehoboth Senior Center at around 5:30 p.m. When they arrived, heavy flames had already engulfed a large portion of the roof on the rear side of the one-story building, near where the kitchen was located.

A local man who flew his plane over the senior center posted a photo on social media showing the billowing smoke, which several other residents said could be seen from Warwick and Providence.

Since the senior center on Route 118 is closed on weekends, no one was inside when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
