BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It has been over a month since a panel blew off an Alaska Airlines jet midair. But a new poll shows Americans still have faith in flight safety.
According to the Associated Press survey, 70 percent of United States adults have at least a "moderate amount" of confidence that airplanes are properly maintained.
The survey was conducted after the Jan. 5 Alaska Airlines incident.
84 percent of those surveyed were confident in their pilot's training and knowledge of safety procedures.

Other data showed flying to be one of the safest modes of transportation.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, highway accidents "consistently" make up the vast majority of transportation fatalities.
2021, the last year with available statistics, saw 42,939 highway fatalities compared to 371 air-related fatalities.
