BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A soldier from Jamaica Plain and his family were reportedly killed in a car crash in South Korea last week.

Stars and Stripes magazine reports that Army Specialist Luis Taveras, his wife Lisbeth, and his 16-month old son were killed this past Monday. The car reportedly smashed into a tow truck at around 11:00 PM on Monday. The crash happened on a one-lane curve in a road.

Taveras' car burst into flame after the crash, and all three members of the family were pronounced dead at the scene.

Taveras has been stationed in Korea with the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, which provides support for the U.S. Military personnel in South Korea. He had been in the Army for four years.

The driver of the tow truck, a 27-year-old Korean man, survived the crash and was treated for his injuries.
