Report: Celtics Hire Nets Assistant Ime Udoka As Head Coach

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Celtics reportedly have their guy in 43-year-old Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Ime Udoka. The search for a new coach began earlier this month, after Coach Brad Stevens announced he'd be taking over for President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge.

ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Twitter. Udoka played for the L.A. Lakers, the New York Knicks, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Sacramento Kings and the San Antonio Spurs during his time in the NBA.

He was then an assistant coach to Coach Gregg Popovich with the Spurs for seven years, moved onto the Philadelphia 76ers for two years, and was most recently with the Brooklyn Nets this past season.
