BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Celtics fans, prepare to say goodbye. The C's are reportedly trading point guard Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Smart has spent his entire nine-year career with the Celtics, and is averaging 10.6 points per game over his career. According to ESPN, he's being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in a three-way trade for Washington Wizards center Kristaps Porzingis.
The C's will also reportedly get two first-round picks out of the trade: the 25th overall pick in tonight's NBA draft, and a first round pick in 2024. They traded up from the 35th overall pick in the 2023 draft as part of the deal.
A fan favorite, Smart is widely considered the heart of the Celtics roster.
