Rescue Workers Save Horse Stuck In Mud In Hanson

HANSON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Rescue crew members saved a large horse that got stuck in the mud on its side Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Hanson Fire Department, the Regional Old Colony Communications Center received a call about a horse stuck in the mud at the Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area.

The Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team responded to the call, bringing in specially-trained firefighters and veterinarians; six members of the Duxbury Fire Department also assisted with the rescue operation.

Crews pulled Libby, the 13-year-old horse, out of the mud with a backhoe and were able to get her back on her feet.

Hanson firefighters said Libby and her owner both suffered minor injuries.
