One resident was surprised by how much sand had washed up on the roads.
“A lot of the sand around here, it’s pretty high and deep. I’m really surprised,” he said. “I’ve seen about a dozen lobster traps out there that washed ashore."
Residents of Rocky Bend Condominiums, who live right on the water, used brooms to clean up the mess of sand and rocks that the storm had tossed into their parking lot.
One person who witnessed the waves and floods described how he saw “waves 20 to 30 feet coming over the breakers.”
“We had basically a river running down our parking lot,” he said.
Public safety officials in Hampton said they are concerned for another storm headed their way this weekend.
