Rhode Island Police Arrest Nine For Driving Drunk On New Years Eve

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WBZ NewsRadio) — During New Year's Eve patrols, the Rhode Island State Police arrested nine motorists suspected of impaired driving.

Colonel James M. Manni, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety said Thursday night was "a busy one" for Rhode Island Troopers.

The first arrest of the night for driving under the influence was made at 8:45 p.m. on Route 37 in Cranston, followed by another arrest at 9 p.m. on Route 95 in Pawtucket.

State police arrested two more drivers between 10 p.m. and midnight for driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs along Route 95.

Five more drivers were pulled over for drunk driving by state troopers early New Years Day in Cranston, Providence, Pawtucket, Johnston, and near Twin Rivers Casino in Lincoln.
