Rideshare Driver Arrested Following Sexual Assault Incident In Brighton

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A rideshare driver, accused of sexually assaulting a passenger in Brighton, was arrested over the weekend.

Boston Police said the suspect, 25-year-old Sonpreet Singh, of Somerville, surrendered himself on Sunday. He has been charged with Indecent Assault and Battery on a person over the age of 14.

A victim initially reported the assault on Wednesday, April 14. Authorities said, after investigating, they were able to identify the driver and obtain a warrant for him.

Singh is set to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.

Boston Police is urging rideshare passengers to follow safety recommendations, including riding in the backseat, share your trip details with a family member or friend, and to make sure you get in the right car.
