ROCKLAND, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — From fine dining to fine snacking, a change in profession is "popping" for a couple of business owners on the South Shore.
Justin and Amy Cherman are the creators and operators of "Thank You Popcorn," a Rockland-based snack company that offers a creative mix of flavored popcorns.
According to the couple, the foundation of every recipe is "organic virgin coconut oil, non-GMO corn and salt." The flavors can then range from sweet and salty, including types like chocolate-covered strawberry, truffle honey caramel, key lime pie and even hot chicken and waffles.
The two are both classically-trained chefs with years of experience in the restaurant business.
“I never thought we’d be making popcorn," Justin said. "Next thing I know, I start playing around with it, and experimenting, and drizzling chocolate and I don’t know, now I make popcorn."
Justin said the company was born a few years ago when his brother Mike reached out to him about the idea. He added that the name of the snack comes from a family value of gratitude.
"We were taught by my family is just to have gratitude in life," he said. "And I think that “Thank You” is a way of saying that every day."
If you're interested in trying any of the flavors, you can purchase a bag on the Thank You Popcorn website.
“It’s fun, it’s what we’re all about, fun snacking,” Justin said.
