State Police said the pickup truck exited the road’s western edge before hitting a guardrail. It then veered back across all travel lanes and hit a jersey barrier and guardrail on the eastern edge of the road. That was when the truck went airborne and rolled over and down an embankment before coming to a stop in shallow standing water.
Authorities do not believe the driver was wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Robert Bilodeau III, of Bellingham.
A 35-year-old passenger, of Millville, was wearing a seatbelt and was rescued by Uxbridge firefighters. He was taken to a hospital with what was suspected to be serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
