UXBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts State Police are investigating following a rollover crash in Uxbridge Sunday afternoon that left one person dead.
The single-vehicle rollover happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Route 146 northbound, north of Exit 3.
The victim was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado when they lost control of the pickup truck. The reason for this is still under investigation.
State Police said the pickup truck exited the road’s western edge before hitting a guardrail. It then veered back across all travel lanes and hit a jersey barrier and guardrail on the eastern edge of the road. That was when the truck went airborne and rolled over and down an embankment before coming to a stop in shallow standing water.
Authorities do not believe the driver was wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Robert Bilodeau III, of Bellingham.
A 35-year-old passenger, of Millville, was wearing a seatbelt and was rescued by Uxbridge firefighters. He was taken to a hospital with what was suspected to be serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
