ROSLINDALE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Fallon Field Walking Tunnel in Roslindale connects Belgrade Avenue and Fallon Field.

Recently, a citizen filed a 311 complaint that the tunnel has become dangerous due to its lack of lighting.

During the day, most people don't seem to mind walking through the train underpass.

But at night, it's a different story as residents said the dark tunnel is a place to avoid. "I would never walk through here at night," said Bill who played baseball at the field as a kid. "And even if it had a light, I'm not so sure I would."

Bill said he agreed with the resident who filed the 3-1-1 report that the tunnel is not safe at night due to its lack of lighting.

Another resident noted a light pole in the tunnel doesn't even work.

WBZ NewsRadio has reached out to the MBTA and Boston Parks and Recreation to find out who has maintenance responsibility for the tunnel.

WBZ News Radio's James Rojas (@JamesRojas MMJ) reports.
