BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Artists who are scheduled to paint a street mural in Roxbury on July 4th will be joined by crowds of protestors planning to march to Boston Common in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
According to the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture, a group of local artists will be painting a "Black Lives Matter street mural across a 500 square foot stretch of Washington Street from Palmer Street to Eustis Street" this weekend.
Weather permitting, 10 artists will be stenciling the characters on Saturday, which is Independence Day, and on Sunday, July 5th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days.
Hundreds of protestors are also planning to meet in Nubian Square at 4 p.m. on the 4th of July for a "Say Her Name" rally, before they march to the Boston Common.
"Black Lives Matter Boston is calling us all to march and rally for Breonna Taylor, Riah Milton, Oluwatoyin Salah, Marielle Franco, Tseshego Fatso Pule, Christine Ricketts, Bobby Jean Graham, and too many other Black Womxn," said organizers.
After the march, organizers said there will be "a celebratory rally in the Common where we will share music, food, and the arts... [and] radical joy and dancing."
