BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Students at Roxbury Prep that could recite the most digits of pi were given the opportunity to throw pies into the faces of their teachers— all in celebration of March 14, otherwise known as Pi Day. Those in the class that remembered the most numbers were gifted a pie to slam into the face of their educators.

WBZ's Jim MacKay was there to see desserts fly and spoke to educators who said the holiday makes for a great incentive for memorization.

For students, studying to list off the numbers was no easy task— but the chance to toss pastries was just too irresistible to pass up.

"It was fun, once they said that we we're going to do the 'pieing' I started studying that same day," one winning student named Diamond said.

WBZ's Jim MacKay (@JimMacKayOnAir) reports.
