SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Salem's Board of Health unanimously voted Tuesday evening to implement an indoor mask mandate for all businesses and public places.

The mandate will go into effect Aug. 23 through Nov. 13 and will be required regardless of vaccination status.

Board of Health members cited rising COVID-19 cases in the city and nationwide due to the Delta variant, as well the Provincetown COVID-19 cluster in July.

An estimated 100,000 visitors are expected to be in Salem for Halloween.
