Missing Saugus Senior With Dementia Located After Several Hours

SAUGUS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A missing Saugus senior with dementia was located in Somerville after several hours of searching, police said.

On Wednesday at approximately 2 p.m., Saugus police received a report that Thai Tran, 78, was missing. He was last seen near his home on Eastern Avenue earlier that day.

Saugus police immediately began a search of the area in assistance with the Massachusetts State Police Airwing and the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.

The 78-year-old was located in Somerville about 5 p.m. He was uninjured, and has reunited with his family.

"I want to thank community members, Somerville Police, Revere Police, Massachusetts State Police and the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council for their assistance," said Saugus Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli. "We are pleased we were able to locate this individual thanks to cooperation with our law enforcement partners and the public."
