BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Savannah Bananas baseball team, known for playing the game while also putting fun and entertainment first, are playing at Fenway Park on Saturday, but not before the team had the chance to fuel up on coffee and donuts to celebrate National Donut Day at Dunkin in Kenmore Square Friday.

To celebrate, they didn’t just eat donuts and drink coffee, but took some time away from the ballpark to give back to the community by serving donuts, coffee, and giving out gift cards and Dunkin merchandise too.

“We’re out here just giving back to the people... you know, showing them why Dunkin and the Savannah Bananas are the best,” one of the players told WBZ NewsRadio.

The Savannah Bananas are a unique team, and in addition to baseball, are also known for their crazy dancing and partying antics, which has sold out ballparks across the country since their beginnings in 2016.

Player # 88 Noah Niznik is looking forward to playing Fenway Park.

“[It’s] unreal, we’ll probably pinch ourselves a couple of times but yeah, seeing the [green] monster for the first time is going to be the most special thing about it,” he said.

The signature game that the team plays, known as “Banana Ball”, was born out of the idea of making baseball more fast-paced, entertaining, and FUN,” according to their website.

The Savannah Bananas first pitch will be on Saturday, June 8 at Fenway Park at 7 p.m.
