BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The familiar rhythms of fall are returning.

Lots of families are wrapping up their summer vacations before students head back to classes.

Michelle from Washington D.C. is originally from Massachusetts.

She's been back in New England this week visiting with her kids before their school year begins next week.

Michelle said she wanted to make sure her kids get the opportunity to experience all of what this area has to offer.

"They went to Maine, and they went down to Marshfield to the beach," she said. "We're also going to walk the Freedom Trail today after the Tea Party Ship."

Levi is visiting Boston with his family from Minnesota on their final trip of the summer.

He said he and his son both agree New England Aquarium was the highlight of their trip.

A group of local students spent their summer working for Save the Harbor/Save the Bay helping people fish from different locations throughout the city.

Arielle, who returns to class next week at Keefe Regional Tech in Framingham, has her sights set on the future.

She said he already knows what he's doing on his last few days of summer vacation.

"For the last three days, I'm actually doing some college tours all the way up in New York," she said.

Meanwhile, a family from Detroit said Fenway Park was on their list of places to visit.

"I've been around it several times, but [the Sox have] never been home when I've been here," said one member of the family. He said his son was excited to visit, but he wished the Sox "were playing the Tigers."

Reporter's note: the son was decked out in Red Sox gear.
