BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Changes went into effect on Monday for four of the Commuter Rail lines.
Schedule adjustments have been implemented on the Fall River/New Bedford, Greenbush, Kingston, and Providence/Stoughton Lines. According to MBTA and Keolis, the updated schedules are meant to “improve reliability for passengers, particularly on the new Fall River/New Bedford Line.” Here’s a look at what’s different.
Fall River/New Bedford Line
Midday and evening trains no longer stop at JFK/UMass and passengers are encouraged to take the Red Line to connect with Commuter Rail service at South Station or Braintree. Officials have also cancelled a late-night shuttle train from Fall River and another one from New Bedford.
Greenbush Line
A new train departing from Greenbush at 8:42 a.m. has been added, which will arrive at South Station at 9:43 a.m. Midday trains also have some minor adjustments to departure times.
Providence/Stoughton Line
Train 864, which departs from Wickford Junction at 4:35 p.m., will now stop at Hyde Park. This is meant to help passengers who typically use the Fairmount Line as construction continues.
Kingston Line
Minor schedule adjustments have been implemented for midday trains.
