BOSTON (State House News Service) — Two Boy Scout troops from Burlington were on hand Thursday morning as the House of Representatives churned through mostly local matters during the first session of December. Requests for creditable service, additional liquor sales allowances, civil service exam exceptions and sick leave banks ruled the day, though the House also gave initial approval to a bill that would require the governor to annually set Oct. 2 aside as School Custodian Day "in recognition of the dedicated contributions provided by school custodians to ensure children of the Commonwealth have clean, healthy and safe learning environments."

The Senate has already engrossed the bill. The House will be back for another informal session Monday at 11 a.m.
