Scituate Animal Shelter To Hold Special Adoption Day Event

SCITUATE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Since the summer is normally a slow time for animal adoptions, the Scituate Animal Shelter (SAS) has created an adoption event that is "outside of the box."

They created a one-day only “name your own fee” adoption event for adult cats.

“Many families who might be thinking about adopting a new pet have decided to wait until fall to start looking. It’s really hard because we have so many great pets waiting for homes right now, including a good number of great cats,” Maryann Regan, Executive Director of the Scituate Animal Shelter said.

The event will take place June 5. SAS reported they still plan on foregoing a careful matchmaking process, despite the promotion.

“We charge $160 to adopt an adult cat, but this year, we’ve seen an increase in intakes of animals and a decrease in people interested in adopting them," Regan stated.

People interested in the adoption day are encouraged to go to the shelter's website to review the available cats for adoption. Their site also includes complete details and instructions on their adoption process.
