Second Coronavirus Death In Massachusetts Confirmed

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A second person in Massachusetts has died from coronavirus according to the state Department of Public Health.

The patient was a woman in her 50s from Middlesex County who had pre-existing conditions, which officials say predisposed her to more severe disease. Middlesex County has the most cases of any county in the state.

The state's second COVID-19-related death comes three days after the first patient, a man in his 80s from Winthrop with pre-existing medical conditions, died from the virus.

The State Public Health lab reports it has tested over 5,200 people for coronavirus, identifying 525 cases in the state.
