DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The second day of testimony in the Karen Read murder trial wrapped up Tuesday afternoon just before 1:00 p.m.

Read is accused of hitting her boyfriend, Canton Police Officer John O'Keefe, with a car before leaving him to die outside another Canton police officer's home during a blizzard two years ago.

She denies the charges.

Her defense lawyers said that she's the victim of a coverup, claiming O'Keefe was dragged outside after a fight inside the home.

During testimony on Tuesday, the prosecution and the defense questioned first responders at the scene when O'Keefe's body was discovered.

Timothy Nuttall, a Canton firefighter and paramedic, testified he heard a woman at the scene yelling several times "I hit him." He said the woman had blood on her face but could not identify her out of the three women present.

Another first responder, Canton Police Officer Stephen Mullaney, when cross examined by the defense, said he never heard Read admit to any fault.

The judge said there will be no testimony on Wednesday and the trial will resume on Thursday.
