BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — New and shiny are out. Retro and classic are in.
At least that's the vibe at Sowa Vintage Market in the South End.
A crowd of mostly college-aged customers peruse the jam-packed store shelves and crowded aisles for second-hand treasures ranging from clothing to cutlery, to frames, to candles, to furniture, and everything in between.
Store owner Stephanie Pernice started Sowa back in 2010 as a seasonal market but expanded to year-round in 2012.
She said most of her customers are young. "College-aged kids have definitely embraced what we're doing down here," she said.
Another reason why her store appeals to customers she said, is the environmental benefits of what she sells. "These things are already on the planet and their quality has stood the test of time."
Her advice to shoppers at the market, if you see something you like, grab it quick before someone else does.
