BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Several hundred people gathered to pray at the Armenian Heritage Park in Boston to show their support for their fellow Armenians amidst a mass exodus.
More than 100,000 people have fled the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh in Azerbaijan in a desperate attempt to escape genocide.
Co-Chair of the Armenian Assembly of America Anthony Barsamian spoke at the Armenian Heritage Park Saturday morning.
“This is unacceptable,” said Barsamian. “The world failed, the UN failed, the United States failed, Russia failed, Turkey failed, and Azerbaijan is an enemy of the world at this moment.”
Local Armenians have urged President Biden to condemn Azebaijan’s actions. They also want the United States to send humanitarian aid to help those who fled Nagorno-Karabakh.
“There is no doubt that a dictator will come for Armenia after this,” said Barsamian. “We need to be up for the task to fight back.”
