HINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — There were several bomb threats at Jewish places of worship on Sunday.
Residents in Hingham, Mass. were forced to evacuate after a bomb threat was made to Congregation Sha’aray Shalom. Police arrived at the temple and conducted a search, finding no explosives on the scene.
One harborman in Hingham told WBZ’s Chris Fama that the bomb threat was a shock to the community.
“We’re very fortunate that we live in a neighborhood where we all get along. It’s hard for me living in a community like this to understand,” said the resident.
He thought that members of the community, regardless of their faith, would benefit from an annual Thanksgiving service at the Hingham Congregational Church.
“Every Thanksgiving they have a service and they have rabbis, pastors, ministers. It’s a combined service and all of the churches participate in it,” said the man.
Similar bomb threats were made to Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, Mass. and Beit Ahavah Synagogue in Northampton, Mass. Authorities did not find explosives at either location.
