Shark Near Shore Closes Truro Beach

TRURO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A shark seen off the coast of Head of the Meadow in Truro closed the beach for an hour Tuesday afternoon.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy posted a picture of the shark where a number of beach-goes can be clearly seen in the background.

"Quite a few sharks were spotted close to shore on today's research trip," the conservancy said. "Safety officials were notified and the beach was closed to swimming for one hour."

The Conservancy's Dr. Greg Skomal tagged a total of four sharks off Truro and Wellfleet Tuesday, bringing the total for the season to 12.
