Concord, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Sheryl Crow is performing Friday night at the Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, but it’s the opening acts that make the show special.
The show, part of the Umbrella Arts Series, is in partnership with Salt Lick Incubator, a nonprofit that supports emerging artists.
Roger Brown founded the organization, after serving as president of the Berklee College of Music for 17 years.
“I love music and I really love musicians and it's fun to get involved with people at this stage of their careers,” Brown said.
Vincent Lima is a recipient of a Salt Lick Incubator artist grant, and he’s one of the three performers opening for Crow.
Lima said the grant “sort of freed me up to start touring, and to focus on merch, and to basically just take a deep breath.”
The significance of performing in the same show as the Grammy-awarding Crow is not lost on him.
“She’s a literal living legend,” Lima said.
The venue is tiny, just 350 seats, so guests will be treated to an intimate experience.
“If we can’t have fun doing this, we’ve got a problem,” Brown said.
