WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Monday, the Worcester Police Department issued an advisory that a shooting that injured one person on Burncoat Street put multiple nearby schools on lockdown for a time.
Police responded to reports of a gunshot on 480 Burncoat Street and brought one victim to a local hospital. Shortly after, the lockdowns were lifted, and police issued an advisory that they do not believe there is a threat to the public.
One of the schools placed on lockdown was Quinsigamond Community College on Boylston Street, which issued an alert to students saying that all day classes on the main campus would be canceled for the day. Evening classes at QCC were set to resume as scheduled.
