HANOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As Bay Staters prepare to gather for their annual Memorial Day cookouts, one key issue seems to be top of mind: inflation.

"I wish things would go down," said Tom of Hanover.

According to a recent YouGov/Economist poll, when asked to pick one key issue important to them, 25% of Americans list inflation and prices as the main concern. Concurrently, 44% of Americans strongly disapprove of how President Trump is handling the matter. Some analysts noted that Trump is aware of this pain point for Americans as he tries to shift the blame from his actions to store owners, forcing shoppers to continue to figure out how to incorporate inflation into their budgets.

"Things always seem to go up quicker than they go down, said Tom. "It would be nice if things could drop, somewhat."

While Kansas State University says meat price inflation has outpaced inflation for other goods, shoppers like Janice say they are willing to sacrifice to purchase steaks for their family, even though they don't like the surge in pricing.

"You know you're getting a good product," said Janice.
