BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — For the next ten days, shuttle buses will replace train service from Back Bay to Oak Grove on the Orange Line as crews work on track repairs and signal work.
Riders boarding shuttle buses at Oak Grove said they're budgeting more time for their commutes. The MBTA recommends an hour extra of time if you're relying on shuttle buses.
It's a big disruption but the MBTA said the work will help the trains run faster when the work is complete.
"They usually do OK with it, so usually they make really good improvements during these times," said one rider at Oak Grove. "I give a little grace for that."
There also express shuttle buses available for Oak Grove, Malden Center, Wellington, and North Station.
Next month, the work will continue for the other half of the Orange Line. From Sept. 10 to Sept. 14, shuttles will replace service between Back Bay and Forest Hills.
