BRAINTREE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Shuttle buses are replacing train service on the Red Line Braintree Branch between North Quincy and Braintree through Sunday, Nov. 23.

The MBTA says the closure will allow time for "essential infrastructure upgrades, track renewal, and other critical revitalization work on the Red Line."

WBZ NewsRadio spoke Monday morning with riders who are not pleased about the change to their commute.

"Everybody’s gonna be late to work," one person said. "There’s no way we can leave on time and get to North Quincy and jump on a train and still make it to our jobs."

"It’s really inconvenient because it takes more time," another commuter noted.

Along with the shuttle buses, Commuter Rail service between Braintree and South Station will be fare-free during the disruption. The MBTA is also encouraging riders to allow for extra travel time.

WBZ's Chris Fama reports.
