Shuttle Busses Replace Service On The Red Line Between Broadway & Ashmont

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Shuttle buses will replace Red Line service starting on Thursday, May 15 between Broadway, JFK/UMass, and Ashmont station due to signal work.

The shuttle buses will run until Monday, May 18 and will be free of charge.

Starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, crews will install a new signal system that the MBTA says will lead to more efficient travel on the tracks.

The MBTA encourages affected riders to also use the Commuter Rail, which will be fare-free from South Station to Braintree will be free during shutdown.

Station personnel will be on site at affected stations to help assist passengers.

This comes amid a month of shutdowns on the T for infrastructure work and upgrades. The Green Line C Branch service is suspended between Kenmore and Cleveland Circle through May 17.

Later this month, shuttle buses will replace service between Broadway, Quincy Center and Ashmont from May 29 to May 3, also due to signal work.
