BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, several significant public health indicators related to COVID-19 in Massachusetts have been on the decline over the past few weeks.
Since May 1, the 3-day average number of COVID-19 deaths has dropped by more than half in the Commonwealth.
The 3-day average number of COVID-patients in the hospital has also decreased by more than a third, and the 7-day weighted average positive test rate is down 68 percent.
According to the DPH, there were 773 newly reported coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to nearly 92,000.
There were also an additional 76 deaths attributed to the virus on Saturday, which puts the state's COVID-related death toll at just over 6,300.
There are currently 2,237 patients hospitalized with the virus across Massachusetts, which leaves more than half the total number of hospital beds in the state still open.
