Single-Engine Plane Crashes In Falmouth With Two Onboard

FALMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — At around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, a single-engine airplane went down just short of Runway 25 near the Falmouth Airpark with two souls on board, the Federal Aviation Administration reports.

Falmouth first responders arrived to the scene to extricate and transport the two passengers for life-threatening injuries. Following their transfer to a hospital, officials asked the public to stay away from the area as the investigation into the crash continues. The National Transportation Safety Board is taking over the investigation and will provide updates at a later date, officials said.

According to flight data from FlightRadar24, the Mooney M20J plane lifted off from Westfield just about an hour before the crash.

Officials did not identify the victims in the crash.
