MILLBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Two business partners from the Worcester area are doing their part to help the environment by recycling old sporting equipment and turning it into art deco furniture and household goods.

Ken Moreau and Mike Bellini are the owners of SkiChair in Millbury. The duo has been making Adirondack chairs, benches and other items out of skis, snowboards, baseball bats and golf clubs for the last 30 years.

“We have a pretty big demand for a lot of our smaller gift items like the wine racks and the bottle openers and the shot skis," Moreau explained.

The duo buys most of their materials for next-to-nothing from ski makers who would normally throw old, broken or imperfect equipment in the landfill.

“Most of it comes from the manufacturers,” Moreau said. “We buy demo fleets, rental fleets. We do get stuff donated from ski swaps and personal donations.”

More information about SkiChair’s products can be found on their website.
