CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The smell of dry rubs and smoke filled the air at Cambridge’s annual Smoke This Rib Fest.

On Sept. 29, the East Cambridge Business Association hosted the rib festival, featuring more than a dozen of the city’s restaurants. The event continues to grow each year on Cambridge Street, but it started as some friendly competition.

“Everyone kind of started talking smack about who had the best ribs and from there [we said] let's have a big rib competition for the neighborhood,” said ECBA Executive Director Jason Alves.

Guests purchased Taste Tickets, giving them the chance to try a rib from 10 of the different restaurants. The people chose Bambara Kitchen & Bar as their winner, while a panel of judges picked Amba Café & Rotisserie as their winner.
