BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Lelands 2021 Spring Classic Auction says a Tom Brady rookie card sold for a hefty price on Friday night.
The card sold for $2,252,854.80, which is the largest selling price in history for a football card. It surpasses the selling record of another Brady card last month that was bought for over $1.3 million.
According to Lelands, the 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship autographed rookie card was purchased on eBay over a decade ago and has been "tucked away in a private collection since then."
"One of only a handful ever offered for sale, [it is] the best Tom Brady rookie card available to the public," the listing said.
Sixty-seven people in total entered a bid for the card. The starting bid was valued at $75,000.
