BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — While parts of New Hampshire and Massachusetts were hit hard with snow by Sunday's winter storm, in Massachusetts, areas along the coast, Cape Cod, and in and around Boston, were largely spared.

Merrimack Valley recorded the highest snow totals with 18"-plus inches in Methuen, Tyngsboro and Haverhill.

Boston's Logan Airport had 3" inches of snow.

For Boston residents, the lack of snow was either welcome news, or disappointing, depending on personal preference.

Joe was disappointed, not just in the lack of snow, but also what little snow fell was mixed rain turning into ice. "There really wasn't much snow, and I was hoping for more," he said as he scraped his car. "And I don't mind shoveling. But everything that fell is now just frozen ice."

Meantime Mike was glad this storm didn't dump much snow in the city. "I don't like to shovel," he said. "Snow belongs in the mountains."
