Somerville Man Arrested, Accused Of Shooting And Killing Roommate

SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Somerville man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly shooting and killing his roommate.

Edson Moreno, 26, is facing multiple charges including armed assault to murder.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday inside a two-family home on Ware Street. When police got to the scene, they said they saw Moreno outside the home with a handgun in his hand. He put the gun on the ground after being instructed to by police.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Robert Favreau of Cambridge. Authorities found him inside the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead inside the home.

An investigation revealed Favreau had been staying with Moreno for several months. The two allegedly got into a verbal altercation before the victim was shot.

After his arraignment Thursday morning, Moreno was ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
