Somerville's PorchFest Switches To CouchFest

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dozens of Somerville's musicians spent Saturday afternoon playing indoor concerts for their neighbors as the city's PorchFest event went virtual.

According to event organizers, after the annual decentralized music festival was canceled due to the coronavirus, local musicians signed up online to play music for each other from their own homes.

As more and participants were assigned a time slot to livestream their performance, Somerville's PorchFest became its first ever CouchFest.

Local bands and individual artists played every genre from rock 'n' roll to techno music, from blues to hiphop.

Neighbors lined up to play music from noon to 6 p.m., while others uploaded previously recorded musical performances for people to enjoy online.
