Somerville's Socially-Distant Election Night Watch Party

SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — In a normal year, you might pack in tightly with friends and family on a couch or at a bar to watch the election night results stream in. But during the pandemic, election night parties are largely a no-go.

There is one local organization that will be projecting live election results on the side of a warehouse in Somerville's Union Square from 7 p.m. until midnight.

The Blue Revolution has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for left-leaning candidates, and it's just one of many organizations that has used social media not just as a tool, but as their main platform.

Founder Dan McCool, a political scientist who lives in Somerville, organized the socially-distanced gathering and election projection, which will also be live broadcast to a Facebook group of nearly 90,000 people.
