HUDSON, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Thursday, the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office announced that a 26-year-old son has been charged with the second-degree murder of his mother the previous night at their home on Shoal Creek Road.

Officials say Grant DeGiacomo repeatedly struck his mother, 57-year-old Christine DeGiacomo, in the head under circumstances "manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life." Officers responded to a disturbance call at around 9:44 Wednesday night, finding the victim suffering from a traumatic injury. She was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy still needs to be completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Originally, state officials deemed Ms. DeGiacomo's death suspicious.

DeGiacomo is scheduled for arraignment in Hillsborough Superior Court on Friday.
