BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Some South End residents are on the lookout for a troublemaking trash panda.

Several neighbors in the Mass Ave and East Springfield Street area say they've had run-ins with an aggressive raccoon seen wandering around streets, alleys, and patios and may have bitten someone. The City of Boston said it was aware of the raccoon and that an Animal Control officer had been sent to the area.

One resident who has a dog told WBZ's James Rojas he's seen the raccoon wandering around his neighborhood.

"One night we were walking and it was just strutting down the street," one resident said. "It was basically walking down the sidewalk like it owned the street. We just kind of got out of the way and it walked right by into the alley and we were like 'That was weird, that was really weird'."

The raccoon may be acting aggressively because it is a mother with babies in the area. One resident with a dog said she plans to avoid the raccoon if she ever runs into it.

"We've met raccoons in the woods and she just runs the other way, which is a good thing," she said.

Boston Animal Control is asking anyone who sees the raccoon to report it.
