BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A two-car collision at Washington St. and Herald St. in Boston's South End Wednesday morning sent one of the vehicles falling 40 feet onto the MBTA commuter rail.

Boston Fire Department responded to the crash at approximately 4:40 a.m., finding one of the cars upside down on the train tracks.

Power was shut down along the rails and traffic was detoured while crews worked on the scene.

The car was lifted off the tracks shortly before 6:30 a.m.

The accident caused delays for commuter rail lines going in and out of South Station.

Four people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital, though none of their injuries appear to be life-threatening.

It is unknown at this time what caused the crash.
