NORWELL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's the most wonderful time of the year for Hornstra Farm.
With the start of the holiday season just a few weeks away, production of the farm's famous eggnog is in full swing.
For Hornstra Farms eggnog season runs from November through New Year's Eve. In that time they'll make, more than 10,000 gallons of eggnog to be sent out to thousands of customers.
"It puts people in the holiday spirit," Alison Hornstra Hartmann, who works for the farm, told WBZ NewsRadio.
The milder and warmer weather has slowed down sales to start the season, but Hornstra Hartmann is optimistic that once the colder weather starts to pick up more people will reach for the holiday staple, which combines cream, eggs, nutmeg, and sugar—often combined with alcohol. She said they sometimes get people asking about eggnog outside of the season.
"You'd be surprised," she said. "They start calling us in September wondering when the eggnog is coming."
