South Yarmouth Man Reported Missing During Blizzard Found Dead

YARMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The body of a missing South Yarmouth man, who was reported missing during last month’s blizzard, has been found.

Yarmouth Police located the body of 56-year-old Jean Paul Morancy on Friday after receiving a call about a possible dead body. Morancy’s body was found along the side of a fence line near an uninhabited residence wearing only a t-shirt and shorts. Yarmouth Detectives learned that the homeowners of that house moved away about two weeks ago.

Morancy was reported missing to Yarmouth Police on Saturday, January 29 at 2:50 p.m., according to police. He was last seen at his home on Laban Lane around 12:30 a.m. and those who reported his disappearance said they did not know Morancy was missing until they woke up that morning. The reporting parties also told police they had tried to call Morancy’s cellphone but were unable to reach him.

At the time of his disappearance, police said Morancy was believed to be walking around in the blizzard. Morancy also didn’t speak English and only spoke Haitian Creole. Police said the circumstances surrounding Morancy’s death are under investigation.
